Join in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Over two thirds of new infections in the US are among Black women and over seventy-five percent of HIV positive women live in sub-Saharan Africa. Katherine Cheairs, producer and executive director of 3rd Eye Films a division of Sistahgirl.org, would like to invite everyone to participate in this grassroots movement to prevent the spread of HIV in Black women around the globe. SistahGirl: Black Women & HIV/AIDS is a documentary project the profiles the lives and experiences of HIV positive Black women from all over the United States who will journey to sub-Saharan Africa to meet other HIV positive women activists. SistahGirl also examines the complex reasons behind the high rate of infection in Black women and what can ultimately be done to slow its spread. Spiritual Connections | ||
Spiritual Connections, Inc. is a non-profit support group organized to help women and children heal spiritually and emotionally from sexual abuse. We provide several workshops throughout the year to assist these innocent victims in their quest to improve the quality of their lives. Our workshops present qualified speakers and activities, such as journaling, visualization, meditation, hypnotherapy, and artwork to lovingly address issues such as shame and blame, the inability to trust, the fear of intimacy, poor self esteem, repressed memories, triggers and flashbacks, eating disorders, disassociation, and other traumas associated with this type of abuse. We also discuss the different laws governing the statute of limitations in the Washington, DC metropolitan area for those clients who wish to initiate legal actions against their abusers. Realizing that some may choose to work with us in a less public setting, we offer individual sessions for adults, and private sessions for children and their custodial parent/parents in a safe, non-threatening environment. We lovingly accept people of all races, nationalities, religions, creeds, and sexual preferences. Although our main focus is on the sexual abuse of women and children, we are open to working with male abuse victims as well. Our goal is to have our clients leave us with a sense of peace and renewed faith in living the good life that the Creator has promised us all.Visit Spiritualconnectionsinc.org |
